Iceland is strategically located between Europe and America. Two submarine cables connect Iceland to Europe and one to North America. The FARICE submarine cable, runs between Iceland and Scotland via the Faroe Islands, and was taken into use 2004. The DANICE submarine cable connects Iceland to Europe with connection to Denmark and was taken into use in 2008. The third submarine cable, Greenland Connect, connects Iceland to Greenland and onwards to Canada and North America. Míla provides backhaul service in Iceland for all cables.
